Mattie Jean Yancey, 80 of 495 Stokes Drive, Hinton passed away at 3:45 a.m. Saturday December 29, 2018 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley following a short illness.

Born December 17, 1938 at Warford, Summers County WV, she was the daughter of the late Frank L. and Lillie Wyatt Bradberry.

She was a 1956 graduate of Hinton High School and worked for 16 years with Western Union in Hinton. She was also a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Johnnie L. Yancey in 1972, five brothers, Arnold, James, William, Jess and Bobby Bradberry, two sisters, Dorothy Harvey and Nell Thompson and a half-sister, Sylvia Powell.

Survivors include a son, Johnnie L. Yancey, Jr. of Hinton, one grandson, Corey Adam Yancey and two great grandsons, Jordan and Ryan Yancey. Several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday January 2, 2019 at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton with Pastor Jeff Canterbury officiating. There will be no visitation. A procession will leave Pivont Funeral Home at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday for those wishing to attend the services.
