Naomi G. Lilly

Daisy Naomi Goldie Lilly, 81 passed Monday January 30, 2017 at 8:40 p.m. following a short illness.

Born November 24, 1935 in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late Charette S. and Hezzie Mae Russell Crawford.

Naomi had lived most of her life in Summers County and in the last year had partially lived with her daughter Christine in Pipestem. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith, although she enjoyed all preaching.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Joseph Bennet in 2008; brothers, James Alfred Crawford and Leslie Newton Crawford and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include three sons, Overton Joseph Bennett & wife Ruth of Mt. Airy, NC, Richard Scott Bennett of Smithers, WV and Jeffrey Allen Bennett of Beckley, WV; three daughters, Christine Elizabeth Ward & husband Stanley of Pipestem, WV, Norma Juanita Rookstool of Winston-Salem, NC and Joanna Susan Scott of Hinton, WV; one brother, David Crawford & wife Patti of Gap Mills, WV; two sisters, Barbara Adkins & husband Bernard of Atwater, OH and Elaine Wills of Jumping Branch, WV; Naomi also had 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, along with a special friend, Judy Odell of Nettie, WV.

Naomi loved flower gardening, sewing, cooking, her cats (Toby and Callie) and collections of birds. She enjoyed old-time gospel singing and joined in at every service. But, most of all, she loved her children and her family with a passion. She had a quick wit and could banter with the best.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday February 3, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
