Obituary

Nellie Marie Farley, 85, of Pipestem, died Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Rockin' Chair Residential Care.

Born April 5, 1931, at Streeter, she was the daughter of the late William Lacy and Lillie McKinney Wills.

Nellie was a 1948 graduate of Hinton High School.  She was a member of Cooks Chapel Baptist Church, in Pipestem.  She was an avid supporter of the Pipestem Ruritan and Pipestem Christian Academy.  While a member of the Ruritan, she received the Tom Downing Award from Ruritan National.  She also received an award as Outstanding Summers County Democrat of the Year, in 1990.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hunter G. Farley, two brothers, Norman Wills, and Clenda Wills,three sisters, including an infant Dollie Mae Wills, and two others Lucinda Vest Upton, and Luella Hubbard.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Farley, and wife Rena of Pipestem, and Sam Farley, and wife Betty of Simpsonville, SC, three sisters Bertha Edwards and Orpha Young of Orlando, Florida, and Zella Margaret Wommack of Newport News, VA.  Four grandchildren, Ray Farley and wife Heather, of Princeton, Becky Reed & husband David, of Beckley, Amy Farley, of Seattle, WA, and Travis Wirt, of Bluefield, and two great grandchildren Hunter Farley and Colton Reed also survive.

Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Cooks Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Dallas Peyton officiating.  Burial will follow at the Farley Family Cemetery, at Pipestem.  Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at the Pivont Funeral Home, in Hinton, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be:  Tom Lamb, Ray Farley, Travis Wirt, Colton Reed, Kevin Worley, Tom Worley, and John Allen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pipestem Christian Academy or the Pipestem Ruritan Club.
