Nellie Lousie Grimmett, 71 of McCoy, Virginia passed away Monday December 18, 2023 at Lewis-Gale Hospital in Blacksburg, Virginia following a long illness.

Born March 2, 1952 at Hix, WV she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Virginia Bragg Waddell.

Nellie was a former employee of the Mercer Angler's Club Fish Hatchery at Lindside. She was a Christian and enjoyed gardening, canning and going to yard sales. She had lived most of her life in Summers and Monroe Counties.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Bennett.

Survivors include two sons, Hershel Grimmett of Peterstown, WV and Christopher Grimmett of Pearisburg, VA. One daughter, Lisa Grimmett of Peterstown, WV.  Lifelong partner, Howard "Butch" Thompson of McCoy, VA. Two brothers, Ronald Waddell and wife Patty of Peterstown, WV and Gary Derfun of Lindside, WV. Thirteen grandchildren, Timmy Grimmett, Dakota Grimmett, Natasha Ann Gill, Christina Grimmett, Emilie Louise Gill, Sarah Grimmett, Shannon Gill, Abbegail Grimmett, Kasey Grimmett, Katie Grimmett, Hershel Grimmett, Jr. Levi Grimmett and Luke Grimmett. Twenty- three great grandchildren, Connor Jackson, Olive Elizabeth Ann Gill, Abel Cahoon, Averi Cahoon, Baylor Gill, Braxton Burgess, Brenton Burgess, Layla Grace Surface, Emma Brooke Belcher, Kolton Blume, Bellah Agnew, Josie Agnew, Reyna Agnew, Hershel Wayne Grimmett, III, Jalene Grimmett, Annalea Canterbury, Greyson Canterbury, Kimber Louise Grimmett, Linkin Thompson, Aria Marie Cline, Alivia Grace Grimmett, Addilyn Rose Grimmett and Elijah Matthew Grimmett. Thirty-two great, great grandchildren. Three step-children of the heart, Butch Thompson, III, Jeannie Thompson, Lori Thompson and Christina Walker also survive.

The family will hold a memorial service at the Bragg Cemetery at Hix, West Virginia at a later date.
