Nicole James DeGroff, 53 of Hinton passed away Sunday August 18, 2019 at CAMC General Division in Charleston after a brief illness.

Born May 24, 1966 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Ralph and Maria Ann Porter DeGroff.

Nick worked in the utility industry as a lineman and was also a roofing contractor. He attended LifeLine Church in Hinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Ralph DeGroff.

Survivors include his lifelong companion, Deloris Cook. Two sisters, Karleanna Meeks of Hinton and Maria DeGroff. Three step-children; Crystal Cook, Christopher Cook and Earnie Dale Cook, Jr. 10 step grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 24, 2019 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Mark Bayle officiating. Burial will follow in the Adkins Cemetery near Hinton. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
