Nona Avilene Bower, 94 of Jumping Branch, died at 3:35 a.m. Thursday November 26, 2015 at Summers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at Hilldale following a long illness.

Born October 9, 1921 in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Veta Farley Thompson.

Ms. Bower was a retired registered nurse for Summers County A.R.H. Hospital in Hinton. She was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church at Jumping Branch and enjoyed cooking and quilting. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul W. Pack, a son, Paul A. Pack, her second husband, Frank Bower, a sister Clista Marshall and three brothers, Ralph, Robert and Richard Thompson.

Survivors include three grandchildren, April Pack of Cary, NC, Jewel Skipper & husband Jamin of Raleigh, NC and Paul Pack & wife Karen of Cary, NC. Three great grandchildren, Chris Barbe, Julia Thompson and Andrew Pack. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday November 30, 2015 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Bill Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
