Norma Jean Dunford, 89 of Tug Creek, passed away Thursday June 11, 2020 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley following a long illness.

Born August 3, 1930 at Itmann, WV she was the daughter of the late Kenny W. Mitchell. She was raised by her grandmother, the late Anna Smalls.

Ms. Dunford was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and cleaning. She had a charitable heart and was always willing to help others in any way possible. She was of the Baptist faith and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Dunford; one son, Lloyd Lee Dunford; one daughter, Linda K. Grant; two grandchildren, Joshua Grant and Keith Lilly; 1 brother and 3 sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Thelma Jean Grimmett of Tug Creek, Shirley Mae Harvey of Hinton and Barbara Sue Lilly (Dennis) of True; 11 grandchildren, David Harvey, II, Melissa Harvey Scites, Chris Lilly, Donna Webb, Billie Jean Gill, Kenny Grimmett, Susie Bragg, Debbie Grimmett, Crystal Morrison, Mike Dunford and Jeannie Brown. 16 great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday June 17, 2020 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor James Blume. Burial will follow in Elk Knob Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
