Patricia Lee Mick of Hilldale, WV passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026 following a short illness caused by complications of ALS at the age of 78.

Born in Princeton, WV on September 22, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Louis Lee and Emily Jacqueline Boyst Delp.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Miller, in 1992, and her second husband, Rev. Frank Mick, in 2001.

She graduated from Princeton High School in 1965 and from Concord College in 1969 with a degree in secondary mathematics and French.

She began her teaching career in 1969 at the former Princeton Junior High School, where she taught for three years.  She then served as a guidance counselor at Greenbrier East High School for one semester before joining the school formerly known as Talcott Junior High School in 1973 to teach math and French.  In 1995, she transferred to Summers County High School, where she remained until her retirement in 2003.

She was the NetWorth Regional Coordinator for the WV State Treasures Office from 2009 to 2011.  In 2010, she became the first woman to serve as President of the Board of Directors of the WV KIDS COUNT Fund.

She served as a certified lay speaker for the Talcott and Hinton Circuit until 2006 and continued as a guest speaker at several churches for years afterward.

She was a former member of the WV Global Ministry of the United Methodist Church.

She was a former president, vice president, treasurer, spiritual growth coordinator, and communications coordinator for WV Women in Faith.  At the district level, she also served as president, vice president, treasurer, and communications coordinator.  She remained an active member of WV Women in Faith as long as her health permitted.

She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Talcott and of the Matthew French Chapter of the DAR until her health no longer allowed it in late 2025.

As long as her health allowed, she enjoyed traveling, reading, and doing jigsaw puzzles.  She faithfully followed her daily TV schedule from morning to night.  She treasured her former students and often said with pride, "I taught them."  She cherished time with family and friends, and above all, she loved serving the Lord, whether through teaching from the pulpit or serving her community.

Survivors include her daughters, Amy Miller of Hinton and Sara Mills and her husband, Zach, of Barger Springs; her sister, Cathy Matherly and her husband, John, of Waynesboro, Virginia; and her brothers, Dan Delp of Cantonment, Florida, and Ric Delp and his wife, Sharon, of Gulf Breeze, Florida.

She is also survived by her stepchildren, Susan Blake and her husband, Randy, of Hurricane; Jim Miller and his wife, Rachel, of Charlottesville; Rena Cavender and her husband, Ed, of Pennsylvania; and Ralph Mick of Nevada.

Her grandchildren also survive her, Sean Mann and his wife, Carson; Alexis Bower and her husband, Trey; and Tori Mills; her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jaxson, Bryce, and Greyson Mann, and Ezra, Jett, and Valerie Bower; several step-grandchildren and step-great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; her best friend, Sue Dostal; and many other dear friends.

The family extends special thanks to her caregivers, whose support made it possible for her to remain at home during her illness.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Randy Cook officiating.  Friends may visit from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
