Obituary

Paul Everette "Sonny" Whitaker, 69 of Hinton passed away Friday June 5, 2020 at Summers County A.R.H. Hospital in Hinton following a short illness.

Born May 6, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Paul T. and Helen Mae Adkins Whitaker.

Sonny was retired from Kroger Corporation in Hinton with 36 years of service. He was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed wood-working and hunting for arrowheads. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church at Talcott and was a former member of the US Army National Guard.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Whitaker.

Survivors include his children, Jayme Whitaker and companion Tammi Dietz of Airville, PA, Laura Episcopo and husband Michael of Roanoke, VA and Jarrod Whitaker and wife Jennifer of Hinton; two brothers, Jack and Steve Whitaker, both of Hinton; four grandchildren, Kelli and Caleb Lephew, Dylan Whitaker and Carter Episcopo; nephew and niece, David and Danielle Whitaker also survive.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday June 7, 2020 at the DeQuasie Cemetery at Lockbridge with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Pallbearers will be Sonny's sons, Jayme and Jarrod Whitaker, grandsons, Caleb, Lephew, Dylan Whitaker, and Carter Episcopo, and son-in-law Michael Episcopo.
