Paul Thomas Woodrum, 73 of Hinton, passed away, Wednesday, February 14, 2023, at his home, following a long illness.

Born February 13, 1950, in Morgantown, WV.  He was the son of the late Dr. Jack D. Woodrum, and Nadine Grammar Woodrum.

Tom was a 1968 graduate of Hinton High School, where he excelled in football, basketball and track.  He was the captain of the 1967 football team and a member of the Hinton High School Bobcat Hall of Fame.  He was a 1975 graduate of West Virginia University graduating with a degree in Social Work. Tom retired in 2007 after 30 years of dedicated service with the West Virginia Department of Transportation Division of Highways.  He began his career as the District 9 Safety Inspector for Summers, Monroe, Greenbrier, Fayette and Nicholas Counties.  He later transitioned to DOH headquarters in Charleston and spent the vast majority of his career as the State Occupational Safety Specialist Supervisor.  Additionally, he was a US Army veteran, a member of Hinton Elks Lodge #821, and an avid WVU sports fan. Tom enjoyed playing sports and lifting weights with his sons and family members, as well as, hunting and fishing.  He especially loved and cherished time spent shopping, playing and overnight stays with his beloved granddaughters, Micaya and Montana.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Sue Woodrum and one brother, Mark Woodrum, and one half-brother Joseph Woodrum.

Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Brian Woodrum and wife Mary Jessica of Miami, FL and Micah Woodrum and wife Crystal of Hilldale; one brother, Tim Woodrum and wife Christine of Roanoke, VA; one sister, Donna Sue Mock of Huntington, WV; grandchildren, Micaya and Montana Woodrum, Caynan Bowling and Caden Rhodes, one-half brother, Jack David Woodrum, and wife Debbie of Hinton, nephews, D.F. Mock and wife Juli of Charleston, WV, Erich Woodrum of New York City and John, Elliott and Emerson Woodrum all of Roanoke, VA; one niece, Mollie Kaufman and husband Craig of Morgantown, WV, and Jaxon Woodrum, and Jacob Woodrum, of Hinton. Also surviving is Tom's beloved dog, Jasper.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, with Pastor Butch Honaker officiating.  Entombment with military honors will follow at Restwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Hinton. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until time of services Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers for the service will be D. F. Mock, Erich Woodrum, John Woodrum, Elliott Woodrum, Emerson Woodrum, Craig Kaufman, Jon Pierce, Rodney Bower, Jason Ballengee, Larry Meador, Caynan Bowling, Caden Rhodes, and David Adkins.
