Phyllis A. Carr, 95, of Palatka, Florida passed from this life on September 3, 2024.  She was the youngest daughter of five children by Oscar Daniel and Winnie Milam and was born November 17, 1928 in Sophia, West Virginia.

She grew up in the Beckley, West Virginia area.  She attended Concord University and graduated with a degree in teaching, later, obtaining her PhD in education.  At Concord, she met Paul J. Carr, a lawyer, and they had four children.  She lived in West Virginia, Ohio and, later, in Maryland and prior to retirement, bought a home on the St. John's River in East Palatka, Florida.

She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Palatka.  She sang in the choir.

Phyllis was kind and compassionate.  She almost always wore a smile on her face.  She loved playing bridge, golfing with the ladies' group at Palatka Golf Course, sewing, and going on cruises.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Paul J. Carr, Jr; parents, Oscar and Winnie Daniel; her brothers Kermit and Clarence Daniel; and a sister, Genevieve Alvers of Palatka, Fl.  Sadly, she was predeceased by three of her four children:  John, Mark and Mary Lou Carr.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Helen Carr; sister, Allegra Lilly; grandchildren, Virginia (Chris) Alterisia, Carly (Jesse) Stokum, Kyrstyna Speer, and Paul (Danette) Speer; great grandchildren, Genaveve Sharp, Lydia Stokum, and Marissa Speer.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronald Cobb officiating.  Friends may visit from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Greenbrier Burial Park.

There will be a celebration of her life at a later date in Palatka, Florida.
