On February 11, 2021, our precious Mother, Phyllis Jean Ratcliffe passed away on to her eternal home in Heaven. She was a born again Christian and trusted Him throughout her life.

Born July 3, 1941 in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Clara Meador Maddy.

Phyllis was a 1959 graduate of Hinton High School and retired as a ward secretary for Summers County A.R.H. Hospital in Hinton. Phyllis was  kind, caring and giving to all who knew her. She always had something good on the stove or in the oven to offer anyone who came to visit or stay a few days. She loved all her friends and family with all her heart and we truly will miss her presence. Phyllis was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Thomas Ratcliffe; 3 brothers, Ronald, Arnold and Wilmer Maddy and a sister, Colean Bolton.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Ratcliffe of Nimitz; a daughter, Sandra Ball and husband Jr. of Hinton; twin brother, Phillip Maddy of Nimitz; two sisters, Abelean Richmond of Williamsburg, VA and Mary Pleoger (Skip) of Sedro Wooley, WA; grandchildren, Brian Ball (Chasity), Jeffrey Ball (Seanna) and Alexis Ratcliffe; two great grandchildren, Chloe and Hunter, and one great grandchild due in June.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday February 14, 2021 at Grace Baptist Church at Nimitz, with Pastor Bill Ballengee officiating. Burial will follow in Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank the staff of Main Street Care in Hinton for the loving care shown to Phyllis during her time there.
