Obituary

Richard Scott Cook, 56 of Jumping Branch, passed away Friday November 9, 2018 in Durham, NC with his beloved family by his side following a long illness.

Born May 27, 1962 in Cleveland Heights, OH, he was the son of Richard H. Cook of Zion Mountain and the late Lois Hartwell Cook.

Scott was a 1980 graduate of Hinton High School and was a locomotive engineer for CSX Transportation Corp. in Hinton. Scott was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying boating on Bluestone Lake, golfing, hunting and fishing and most of all, spending time with his family. He was a lifelong resident of Summers County, and attended Central Baptist Church in Hinton.  He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Michelle Lee Lilly Cook. One daughter, Samantha Cook and M.J. McBride of Hinton and one son, Austin Cook and finacee' Katie Ward of Pipestem, with expectant granddaughter. Three sisters, Robin Johnson (Brent) of Winston-Salem, NC, Barbara Harris (David) of Morgantown, WV and Connie Cook of Raleigh, NC. One brother, Ben Cook of Hinton. Father and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Norma Lilly of Jumping Branch.  Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday November 13, 2018 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastors Robbie Merritt and Don Hannah officiating. Burial will follow in the George Lilly Cemetery at Jumping Branch. Friends may call from 6 until 9 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be; Austin Cook, Ben Cook, M.J. McBride, David Harris, Brent Johnson, Caleb Harris, Nick Trevino, Mike Lilly, James Allen Williams, Steve Duncan, Jerry Ratcliffe, Steve Allen, Matt Ratliff, Justin Richmond and Seth Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be; Phillip Meadows, Ed Yates, Bob Bennett and Jack Hartwell.
