Richard Fredrick "Fred" O'Brien, 80 of Hinton, passed away Monday November 21, 2022 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, VA following a short illness.

Born November 30, 1941 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Jerry and Celestine Hingle O'Brien.

Mr. O'Brien was a retired from Greenbrier Valley Medical Center as an x-ray technician. He also was the owner of O'Brien Car Restoration, reflecting his passion for restoring vehicles. Fred also was an avid woodworker and loved the outdoors.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Carson O'Brien; two daughters, Cindy Christopher and husband Joe of Anchorage, AK and Annette Wood and husband Josh of Bluefield, VA; three step-daughters, Sherry Luebker and husband Michael and Linda Gangia, both of Jacksonville, FL and Sandra McInturff of Roanoke, VA; two sisters, Vickie May and Jerry Tuggle, both of Apopka, FL; ten grandchildren, Jimmy and Kaitlyn Christopher, Geffrey Cooke, Eric Maxwell, Sarah Flood, Marjoria Carter, Ramon, Jeb and Nathan Denham and Andrew McInturff; five great grandchildren also survive.

Cremation services have been provided by Pivont Funeral Home and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
