Richard Lee "Ricky" Ewing, 67 of Hilldale, passed away at 8:23 a.m. Thursday June 22, 2023 at his home following a long illness.

Born September 10, 1955 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Ray and Imogene Cooper Ewing.

Ricky was a 1973 graduate of Hinton High School and was a retired brakeman and conductor for CSX Transportation Corporation. He was of the Baptist faith and was a well known and trusted organ repairman in southern West Virginia and Virginia. Ricky had a particular expertise with Hammond organs.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Ewing and a step-son, Ryan Dodd.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Grimmett Ewing; children, Tonya Keaton and husband Bill, Kayla Brown and husband Cory, Amanda Withrow and husband Tad, Shelby Whittaker and husband Chase and Brandon Ewing and companion Erica Acevedo; grandchildren, Jennifer, Karsyn, Bryson, Lexi, Maverick, Lilly, Addy, Kyson, Brayson, Miranda, Lucie and Michael; 5 great grandchildren; nephews, Jerrod and Stevie Ewing; sister-in-law, Linda Ewing.

Memorial services for Ricky will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday June 26, 2023 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Bishop Fred Simms officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
