Robert Dwain "Bill" Burdette, 73 of Hilldale, passed away at 12:22 a.m. Tuesday March 8, 2022 at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg following a long illness.

Born December 16, 1948 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Robert and Lillian Ruth Cales Burdette.

Mr. Burdette was a carpenter and a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, stationed in Korea. He was a member of River Valley Baptist Church at Forest Hill and attended Big Creek Baptist Church. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and loved drawing and painting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Kothe

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years,  Linda Mae Grimmett Burdette two sons, William D. "Billy" Burdette and wife April of Kernersville, NC and Adam C. Burdette and wife Amanda of High Rock, NC; grandchildren, Allison, Andrew Cary and Ava Mae Burdette; two brothers, David Burdette of Hinton and Peter Michael Burdette and wife Sharon of Grassy Meadows; two sisters, Betty Tincher and husband Larry of Big Creek and Judy Orphey of Big Creek; step-grandchildren, Andrew Stone of Connecticut and Griffin Stone of Hinton; step great granddaughters, Sophia and Luna Stone and a half sister, Jan Kearney of Florida also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday March 10, 2022 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastors Lowell O'Dell and Daniel Toler officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery at Powleys Creek. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be; Adam Burdette, Andrew Burdette,  Mark Tincher, Kris Kothe, Bradley Burdette, Alex Toler, Chad Smith and Russell Winfree.
