Obituary

Robert A. "Robbie" Turner, 67 of 102 2 nd St. Hinton died Wednesday March 18, 2020 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley following a short illness.

Born January 22, 1953 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Edwin R. and Edith C. Cooper Wheeler Turner Shumate.

Robbie was a graduate of Hinton High School and was the owner/operator of Turner Construction Company in Hinton for 43 years. He attended Central Baptist Church in Hinton and had been a member of Hinton Fire Department since 1977.

Besides his parents, Robbie was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Ann Eggleston Turner and one daughter, Sherri Renee' Turner.

Survivors include a son, Robert Wayne (Jessica Lynn) Turner of Lerona, WV; half-brother, John Wheeler of Glen Morgan, WV; step-brothers, Curtis Shumate (Pam) of Hurricane, WV; three step-sisters, Dorothy Ann Meise (John) and Martha Faulconer, both of Belair, MD and Vicki Cole of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren, Lilyann, Gracelyn, Joyanna and Maverick Turner also survive.

Due to the current CDC guidelines restricting public services, a private family funeral service will be held Monday March 23, 2020 at Pivont Funeral Home. Public burial will follow at 1:45 p.m. at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery. There will be no public visitation.  A public memorial service and celebration of Robbie's life will be held at the Hinton Fire Department at a later date and will be announced at that time.

Members of the Hinton Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
