Robert Bruce Smith, Jr., 35 of 107 Cross Street Hinton died at 12:30 a.m. Monday March 13, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Beckley following a long illness.

Born October 19, 1981 in Hinton, he was the son of Robert Bruce and Francine Gore Smith of Hinton.

Bruce was a 2000 graduate of Summers County High School and was a disabled veteran of the United States Army. He was of the Baptist faith and was a loving son, father and brother. He had lived most of his life in Hinton.

Besides his parents, survivors include a son, Isiah Joseph Cox of Hinton; one brother, Michael Smith of Florida; two sisters, Shawna McCallister and husband Jason of Alderson and Kristin Bays and husband Samuel of Charleston, WV;  nieces, Jourdan and Skyler McCallister; nephews, Joel, McCallister, Jacob Gore and Remington Bostic; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday March 18, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Gore Family Cemetery at Talcott. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
