Rodney Earl Meador, 71 of Hilldale, died Sunday August 13, 2017 at CAMC General Division in Charleston following a short illness.

Born November 6, 1945 at True, WV he was the son of the late Samuel and Ada Lucas Meador.

Mr. Meador was a retired heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. He was a member of Local 132 of the International Union of Operating Engineers and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening. He was of the Baptist faith and was a lifelong resident of Summers County.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Dean Meador, two brothers, Samuel D. Meador, Jr. and Franklin Meador and two sisters, Margaret Meador and Betty J. Bonds.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Hazel Marie Harvey Meador. Two daughters, Sandy Anderson of Hilldale and Teresa Ratliff (Johnny) of Clarksville, TN. Three grandchildren, Jessica Conner of Hinton, Melissa Teague of Clarksville, TN and Tanya McClung of Hinton. Three great grandchildren and best friend, Ronnie Palmer of Pence Springs also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday August 17, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Dana Stalnaker officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
