Ronald Ray Palmer, 69 of Pence Springs, passed away Saturday July 14, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.

Born in Hinton on November 14, 1948, he was the son of the late Ray and Josephine Crotty Palmer.

Ronnie was a heavy equipment operator, working out of IUOE local 132 and was engaged in farming all of his adult life. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church at Pence Springs and was a member of the Trustee board. Ronnie will always be remembered for his hard work ethic and love for his family.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister and by one brother, Bobby Palmer. Also preceded by a niece Michelle Palmer and a nephew, Alexander Palmer.

Survivors include the love of his life and wife of 51 years, Mary Williams Palmer. Two daughters, Carla Rudd and husband Greg of Clintonville, WV and Melissa Canterbury and husband Donald of Warrenton, VA. Two brothers, David Palmer and wife Kathy and Mike Palmer and wife Laurie, all of Lowell, WV. Five grandchildren, Ashley McGregor (Daniel), Christopher Canterbury (Tracy), Deona Bednar (Michael), Ethan Canterbury and Brittany Wheeler. Also his granddog, Daisy. Seven great grandchildren, Madison, Dillon, Annabelle, Isaac, Juliet, Ashton and Phillip. Nephews, Jonathan, Joseph, Jason, and Justin Palmer and niece, Emma Palmer. Best friends, Buster Brown and Steve Humphrey. Several great nieces and nephews along with farm dog and companion Otis also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday July 18, 2018 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastors J.D. Fox and Dana Stalnaker officiating. Burial will follow in Keller Church Cemetery at Lowell. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Christopher and Ethan Canterbury, Jonathan, Joseph, Justin and Jason Palmer. Honorary pallbearers will be Buster Brown, Steve Humphrey, David Willey, Dennis Robertson and Richard Reece.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kanawha Hospice Care or the Summers County Cancer Society.
