Rosetta Bennett, 83 of Hardy, Virginia formerly of Tug Creek, died Friday May 6, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born May 21, 1932 in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late George and Lottie Atkins Pitzer.

Mrs. Bennett was a former employee of the Hinton LaundryMat for several years and was of the Baptist faith. She had lived most of her life in Summers County and the last several years in Hardy, Virginia. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Samuel Russell Bennett in 2014; five brothers, Bruce, Ernest, Fred, Joe and Thomas Pitzer and two sisters, Nettie Camerieri and Georgia Meadows.

Survivors include a son, Michael Russell Bennett and wife Pamela of Hardy, VA; one brother, John Robert Pitzer of Kalamazoo, MI; one sister, Cora Lee O'Bryan of Columbus, OH; three grandchildren, Adrienne L. Spessard of Hardy, VA, Cassandra Rose Bennett of New Castle, VA and Joshua T. Bennett of Hardy, VA; sister-in-law, Dorothy Bennett of Christiansburg, VA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday May 11, 2016 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Lawrence Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Upland Cemetery, Upland, WV. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
