Ruth Carol (Buckland) Burdette peacefully passed away, at the age of 77, in her home in Crows, VA on the morning of Wednesday, May 20, 2026, after complications related to a long battle with autoimmune disease.

Born in Hinton, WV on October 15, 1948, she was the daughter of the late William and Jearldine Buckland.  She graduated from Hinton High School.

Carol enjoyed sitting on her front porch, rides in the countryside with her husband, reading, shopping trips with friends and family, and playing Scrabble with her sister, son, and grandsons.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, William "Bill" Deaver.

She is survived by her husband, Jarrell Burdette, of Crows, VA. Her death fell one day short of their 60th wedding anniversary. Others left to cherish her memory include her son, Christopher Burdette and wife Kahla and their children, Brody and Maddox, of Greenville, SC; sister, Vickie Deaver (Chuck Hayes) of Hinton, WV and her children, Caitlin Deaver (Louise) of Salem, Oregon, Courtney Hall (Aaron) of Rural Retreat, VA, and Erica Spangler (Gary Davis) of Rincon, GA; brother, William Stanley Buckland (Suzy) of Oceana, WV.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, May 22, 2026 at the Valley View Cemetery at Powleys Creek with Pastor Nathan Smith officiating. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Burdette, Brody Burdette, Maddox Burdette, Glen Diehl, Ray Keen, and Chuck Hayes.  Honorary pallbearers include Jarod Hartwell and Larry Cox.

The family extends special thanks and gratitude to ConnectionsPlus of Clifton Forge, VA, for caring for her and allowing her final days to be spent at home with family.
