Ruth Ann Matheny, 62, of Hinton, WV, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.

Born on April 27, 1961, in North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Denver C. and Margaret Grimmett Richmond.

Ruth was a graduate of Hinton High School. She was a former cook at the Bobcat Den and enjoyed working puzzles, crocheting, and spending time with her family.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Matheny, a son, Joshua Bragg, two brothers, Denver Jr. and Bobby Lee Richmond, and one sister, Norma Jean Richmond.

Survivors include one son, Jeremy Bragg and wife Tabitha of Hedgesville, WV, stepdaughter, Jordan Matheny of Florida, two brothers, Tommy Richmond and Ronnie Richmond (Kim) of Ohio, and sister Eva (Ray) of Meadow Bridge, and two grandchildren Matthew and Willow Bragg.

The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
