Ruth Marie Smith, 99 of Forest Hill, went to be with the Lord Tuesday January 17, 2023 at her home.

Born May 22, 1923 at Forest Hill, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Saunders Foster.

Ruth was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading. She loved her church family. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church at Forest Hill where she taught the Women's Bible Class for many years and also sang in the choir.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter K. Smith; infant son, Larry Calvin, son, Danny Smith; grandson, J.B. Smith; brothers, Ernest, Donald and David Foster; sisters, Myrtle Simms, Kay Hannan, Florence Foster and Mary Walker.

Ruth is survived by a son, Dwayne Smith of Charlotte, NC; three granddaughters, Britney Mason and husband Dr. Matthew Mason, Charity Pauley and husband Jim and Renee Smith; two great grandchildren, Olivia and Sullivan and daughter-in-law, Ann Smith; brother, Jerry Foster of Dallas, TX and a sister, Faye Ramsey of Peterstown, WV.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday January 22, 2023 at Fairview Baptist Church at Forest Hill with Pastor Charles Drake officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
