Shannon Scott "Scooter" Smith, 23 of Hilldale, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday October 22, 2017 following a fatal car accident at Riverside Rest.

Scott was born on August 23, 1994 in Beckley, WV. He was the son of Michael and Angella Smith of Hilldale.

Scott was a 2012 graduate of Summers County High School. He was enlisted as a 12N in the Army National Guard. He was a truck driver at United Refrigeration in Beaver. Scott enjoyed working out and eating healthy. He also enjoyed skateboarding with his friends. He was a loving son, brother and friend to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest and Goldie Smith, one aunt, Elizabeth and husband Howard Vanover, uncles, Daniel Berry, Richard L. Richmond, Jr., great grandparents, Herb and Hazel Richmond, great grandfather, Joseph R. Gill and an uncle Billy Richmond.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Michael and Angella Smith of Hilldale, a brother, Michael E. Smith, Jr. and wife Crystal of Hilldale, a sister, Kelly Cales and husband Johnathan of Hilldale, one beloved expected nephew, Clayton Scott Cales. Grandparents, Richard and Jo Ann Richmond of Indian Mills, great grandmother, Anna Jean Gill of Indian Mills. Aunts and uncles include Bill Berry, Ernie Smith and wife Patricia, Ricky Smith, Bobby Smith and Sue Smith, as well as Trina Gill and her husband Gary. He will be loved and missed dearly by all of his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday October 26, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Chaplain Captain Chip Bennett officiating. Burial will full military honors will follow in Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be; Michael E. Smith, Jr., Coty Martin, Ernest Smith, Matthew Smith, Dylan Adkins, Billy Cox and James Raines.
