Stephen Wayne Reed, 69, of Hinton, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation, at Hilldale.  Born August 2, 1947, at Big Creek, he was the son of the late John W. Reed and Evelyn Goff Reed.

Stephen was a graduate of Hinton High School and a lifelong resident of Summers County. He was a former employee of Orkin Exterminating, and a former contract mail carrier with the United States Postal Service.  He attended Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, and loved fishing pheasant hunting, and watching WVU football.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Aaliyah Lou Ann Leftridge.

Survivors include a son Stephen C. Reed and fiancé, Megan of Hinton, a daughter Debbie Reed and companion Brad Jackson of Hinton.  Two brothers, Roger Reed and wife Patty of Madams Creek and Ben Reed of Hinton, one sister Linda Lane, of Beckley, former wife Debbie Ward of Judson, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, with Pastor Grover Morris officiating.  Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery at  Powley's Creek.  Friends may call from 11:00 until time of service on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
