Susan Jane Clay, 48 of Ballengee, WV passed away Tuesday November 25, 2025 at her home following a brief illness.

Susan was born May 11, 1977 in Hinton, a daughter of James Edward and Diane Burke Adkins of Ballengee, WV.

Susan was a graduate of Hinton High School and attended Concord College obtaining a bachelor's degree in education. She was employed as a schoolteacher for several years and also was a substitute teacher for several years. She was also a proud U.S. Navy veteran. She loved the outdoors and was currently enjoying building a house with her husband. Susan relished spending time with her family and watching TV with her faithful canine companion Xena. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Besides her parents, left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bennie Clay; one son, Scott Grizzle of Morgantown, WV and one daughter, Stephanie Grizzle of Ballengee; three sisters, Tammy Fayed and husband Walid of Atlanta, GA, Kathy Pelligrino and husband Lee of Pittsburgh, PA and Laura Houchins and husband Eddie of Ballengee, WV; two nieces, Katlyn and Sydney Pelligrino and two nephews, Samir Fayed and Samuel Pelligrino; one step-son, Aaron Clay and wife Amy of Wytheville, VA and two step-daughters, Ashley Pack and husband Brandon of Jumping Branch, WV and Adrienne Conner and husband Chris of Hinton.

Friends may visit the family from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton.
