Obituary

Sylvester Carline Wynes, Sr. 92 of Talcott, WV passed away Friday October 12, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born April 11, 1926 at Lowell, he was the son of the late Edmond and Clara Campbell Wynes.

Sylvester, known as "S.C." served and was a veteran of the United Sates Navy during World War II and was a retired carman for the C&O Railway Company in Hinton. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, golfing in his younger years. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by a son, Sylvester Carline Wynes, Jr. referred to as "Junior". Six brothers, Amos, Thomas, Algie, Clyde, Charles and Lawrence Wynes, and one sister, Margaret Gray.

He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Wynes of Talcott, Lorie Wynes of Charleston, WV, Katrina "Tina" Wynes of Hinton, Sharon Haskins and Valerie Staunton, both of Beckley, Kim Grace and husband John of Corpus Christi, TX and April Lynn Taylor of Easton, PA. Sons, James and Anthony Wynes, both of Winston-Salem, NC and Felix Wynes of Atlanta, GA. One sister, Katherine Stevens of Beckley, WV. Lovingly referred to as Granddaddy and Paw Paw by 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by ex-wife, Mary Ann Wynes of Talcott and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A private funeral service for family will be held at Pivont Funeral Chapel in Hinton with Bishop Fred Simms officiating. Interment will be in Talcott Cemetery at a later date.
