Thomas Ray Turner, age 83, of Marie, WV, died Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea, WV following a short illness.

Born July 9, 1940, in Hinton, he was the son of the late Guy and Irene Saunders Turner.

Tommy was a 1960 graduate of Hinton High School.  He served his country in the U.S. Army being stationed in Germany.  He was a retired brakeman and conductor for CSX Transportation Corporation in Hinton with 35 years of service. Tommy was a life-long cattle farmer and a member of the Marie Ruritan Club.  He was also a member of the United Transportation Union (UTU).  Tommy enjoyed wood carving and spending time with his family, including his nieces and nephews.  He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church at Red Sulphur Springs, WV.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Alvin Turner.

Survivors include his loving wife, Evelyn Faye Kincaid Turner; one son Tim Turner (Tara Neal) of Beckley, WV; four brothers, Edgar Turner of Hinton, Harry Turner and wife Drema of Hinton, Kenneth Turner of Nimitz, WV, and Denver Turner and wife Ramona of Hinton; one sister, Hilda Turner of Hinton.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Derrick Leslie officiating.  Burial will follow in Roles Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.  Friends may call from 11:00am until 12:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Nephews and family members will serve as pallbearers.
