Vivian Gilbert Plumley, 87, of Hinton passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at her home following a short illness.

Born June 27, 1935 in Herndon, WV, she was the daughter of the late London and Ollie McKinney Mills.

Mrs. Plumley was a graduate of Herndon High School and West Virginia Business College with a Medical Secretarial degree. After graduation, she moved to Hinton in 1954 and was employed as a medical secretary at the Hinton Hospital. Vivian was engaged in several businesses in the Hinton area, including Silo Ice Company and Car Wash, along with several rental properties.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hinton and the Loyal Philathea Class at the church. She was also a member of the Delphi Club and past member of the Junior Womans Club.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John W. Gilbert; one son, John Lawton Gilbert; two brothers, Charles and Lowell Mills; two sisters, Sharlene Lugli Matts and Brenda Mills Green.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Plumley; one daughter, Rhonda Gilbert of Princeton, WV; two step-sons, John and Jerry Plumley, both of Hinton; one brother, Mike Mills (Nancy) of Ghent, WV; a grandson, John Adam Gilbert of Hilldale; special friend, Shirley Spicer of Hinton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenbrier Burial Park Mausoleum. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
