Wanda Carolyn Clay Rouse, 77, of Tazewell, VA formerly of Meadow Creek, WV, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, VA following a long illness.

Born April 2, 1946 in Green Sulphur Springs, WV, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Mary Elizabeth Dwyer Clay.  She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.  She enjoyed working word search and playing cards, especially a good game of "mess with your neighbor" with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years James Junior Rouse.

One brother, Albert Clay and two sisters, Louella Andrews and Inette Smith

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Donna Carol Horne and husband Michael of Cedar Bluff, VA.; her son James Carlos Rouse and wife Crystal of Camden, SC.; three grandchildren, Macie Horne of Cedar Bluff, VA, Sarah Call of Shady Springs, WV and Bobby Call of Charleston, WV and one great-grandson, Xavier Call.; two sisters, Daisy Ayers and husband, Alfred of Rainelle, WV and Bertha Clay of Oak Hill, WV; Several special nieces, nephews and cousins also survive, all of which she loved dearly.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 26th at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, WV with funeral services conducted at 1:30 p.m. with Jackie Ward officiating.  Burial will follow in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery at Abraham, WV.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please buy a blanket or sweater "sweata" as Mom called it, and give to someone in need or who's special to you this holiday season in her memory.
