Obituary

On January 14, 2021, William "Bill" Edward Ellison age 66, of Hinton, knocked the ultimate homerun right into the gates of Heaven.  There waiting for him at home plate are his late parents, Edward and Kathleen Ellison, and his sister Susan Bish.

During his time on earth's ballfield, Bill made many friends.  Some friends knew him for his love of a wide genre of music, some knew him for his politics and his Twin State customers knew him as being knowledgeable, funny and a good friend.  Most of his lifelong friends knew him for his love for his children, baseball, WVU football and basketball.  A lot of people had him in their lives as:  Coach.

In between innings, Bill could be found watching Red's baseball, WVU football or basketball.  Bill was the commissioner of his Fantasy Baseball League for 30 years.  Bill also coached multiple levels of youth baseball, basketball, and football. He spent several years on the board of the Hinton Little League and worked with the Summers County BUCS basketball program. He would work hard to organize his work schedule around the kids that he coached.

When Bill wasn't in the game, he was employed at Twin State Professional Salon Supply for over 40 years. Bill spent many years in direct sales for Twin State before eventually adding on the duties of being the company's Marketing Director.  During his time with Twin State, he coached his customers in the use of products and occasionally techniques.  When Bill didn't have answers to his customers' questions, they could rest assured that Bill would get them the answers.

Bill's field of life was filled with many team members.  At 1st base, Bill welcomed his son, Alexander Shane Ellison, at 2nd base his son, Nathan Sampson of Hinton to the field, at 3rd base, Bill proudly welcomed his only daughter, Lauryn Allysse Ellison of Hinton.  On the field and in the dugout, Bill left behind stepchildren Terry Sampson of Hinton, Grace Sampson of Hinton, and Burgandy Sampson of Hinton.

Bill always told the kids that he coached:  THE PAIN IS ONLY TEMPORARY, BUT THE GLORY IS FOREVER.  William "Bill" Edward Ellison has found his glory.  We have no doubt that he is already coaching Heaven's Angels.  When you hear the thunder, a homerun was hit and when you feel the rain, he is having ice water dumped on him because they won the game and when you see a rainbow, it is the sunshine bouncing off his trophy in Heaven.

The family will be having a celebration of life on Tuesday, January 19th at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton.  Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with funeral service following.  At Bill's request, he will be cremated.  Andretti Sampson will be officiating.
