William "Bill" Sorg 81, passed away peacefully August 23 ^rd , 2021 following a long illness.  Bill was born December 10 ^th 1939 to Elmer Earl and Manilla Stone Sorg of Ashland, KY.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Jo Ann Pergrem, brother-in-law Nard Pergrem and niece Dayna Pergrem Foster.

Bill graduated High School from Erie Boarding School, graduated with an accounting degree from Marshall University and earned an MBA from Pepperdine University. He was a member of 1 ^st United Methodist Church of Hinton, served as Chairman of the Endowment Committee, Finance Committee and President of United Methodist Men.  He served on the Fireman Civil Service Board for the City of Hinton, was on the Board of Hinton Area Foundation, the advisory Board of Appalachian Regional Healthcare, was active in Kiwanis and the Graham House and taught Managerial Finance at Concord University.

Prior to college Bill proudly served as a paratrooper with the 501 ^st PIR in the 82nd Airborne Division.

Following his military service, Bill held various roles from auditor to Chief Financial Officer during a successful finance career. The majority of his career was spent in the petroleum industry with stints in the retail and paper industries.

Bill is survived by his wife Roberta (Bobbi), son Mark and daughter-in-law Elaine of Mundelein, IL.  Son Rhett of Pawleys Island SC.  Grandchildren Lindsay, Sebastian, and Savannah. Sister Peggy Frazier (Jim) of Winston Salam, NC. Nieces, Narda Ingram and family and Marla Bornholt and family. Nephew, Craig Pergrem and family.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton, WV. Visitation hours will be from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 26 ^th followed by a funeral service. Burial will be in Ashland KY. Children, grandchildren and nephews will be pallbearers.
