William J. Vance, age 65, of Bluefield, WV passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026 at Summers Health Care Center following a long illness.

Born in Bluefield, WV on June 28, 1960, he was the son of the late William Henry and Alverda Barnes Vance.

William worked as the head chef at the Bluefield Country Club. His true passions were aviation and astronomy.  A member of the Civil Air Patrol, William dedicated his time to service, mentoring, and his love for airplanes.  He enjoyed quiet nights studying the sky through his telescope.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, David Vance.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Emory Vance of South Carolina and close friend, Steve Mayo of Bluefield, WV.  He will be remembered for his love for flight and his thoughtful nature.

Cremation services have been provided per Williams's request.
