Wladyslawa P. Cobb, "Waja" passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2020  at Garden View Care Center in O'Fallon, MO  after a valiant fight with dementia.  Waja was born on May 27, 1927 to the late Jan and Agnes Patrzalek in Kielce, Poland.

Also pre-deceasing Waja were brothers Marian and Jan Patrzalek and a great niece and her two children.  She is survived by her sister Karolina Kowalik and a niece, her namesake, Wladyslawa Matusczewski, and several other nieces and nephews.  Her five children survive her:  John and Frank (Debbie) of St. Louis, Mo; daughter Marlene (Tony) of Chicago, IL. , Teresa (Jeff) of Hinton, WV, and Sally (Randy) of Williamsburg, VA.  Six grandchildren also survive her;  Crystal, Kaylee, Emilia, Jeffrey, Christopher, and Lakin  and four great grandchildren; Owen, Ella and Wade Conner and Kinsley Cobb.

Waja was born and raised on a farm in Kielce, Poland and at the age of 15 was taken to a DP work camp in Germany during WWII by the German army.  Afterwards, she was sent to Paris, France to work as a housekeeper for a German family.  It was there that she met her husband, Edwin "Eddie" Cobb and after being married in Paris, came to the US.  Waja was a housekeeper, cook, and enjoyed taking care of the elderly under the supervision of WV Social Services for many years.  She was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton for over 60 years until her illness and subsequent move to MO.  She loved to walk and so enjoyed her many walks on the mountains around Hinton.  She loved the outdoors, especially picnics with her family and friends.  She loved flowers and gardening.  Waja made several trips back to Poland to visit with family and friends, her last being in 2002.  During that visit she toured Poland with her family and visited many historic sites, including her parent's farm in Swiecie, Poland.  On that occasion, many extended family members also greeted her with a traditional Polish dinner in her honor.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the loving and caring staff at Garden View Care Center of O'Fallon, MO who took such good care of our mom for the past nearly 10 years, and to Pivont Funeral Home for their care and help during difficult times.  The family also wants to thank the members of St. Patrick for all their cards, prayers, and fondly remembering our mom.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Fr. Arthur Bufogle and Fr. Romeo Bacalso, S.V.D. officiating. Rite of Committal will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A rosary prayer service will be at 12:30 p.m.
