Cecil Lacy Grimmett, Sr., 76 of Hinton, died Thursday May 23, 2013 at his home following a short illness. Born October 10, 1936 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Frank and Lula Gill Grimmett. Mr. Grimmett was a mechanic and dairy farmer. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was a lifelong resident of Summers County. He was preceded in death by a son, Cecil Lacy Grimmett, Jr., one brother, Billy Grimmett, and five sisters, Rhoda Bennett, Betty Wallace, Thelma Ward, Joy Patterson and Nannie Baker. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Wilma Hawks Grimmett. Four sons, Kenneth Grimmett and wife Sara of Pembroke, VA, Baxter Grimmett and wife Roberta of Greenville, and Robert and Charlie Grimmett, both of Hinton. Two daughters, Nellie Ewing and husband Rick of Hilldale and Vickie Gill and husband John of Talcott. Eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews as well as an adopted son, Emery Gill also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday May 28, 2013 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
